Students to pitch their business ideas
UW-La Crosse students will pitch their best business ideas during an upcoming event. The UWL Eagle Eye Business Competition starts at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in The Union Theater in the Student Union, 521 East Ave. N.
The student entrepreneurs hope their business ideas may become a way to finance college in the real-life, business education experience. Under the guidance of SBDC instructors and mentors from local businesses, the students have been meeting Sunday nights since late January to work on their business ideas as participants in the UWL Innovation Lab. It's just one component of the Innovation Generation program created by the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UWL with the support of Merchants Bank and other businesses and individuals.
In the competition, a panel of judges will review the proposed business plans and presentations. Awards will be given to the top three ventures. Audience members will also have an opportunity to vote for a "people's choice" award.
The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available at pay stations in the ramp and commuter "C" lots.
This event is coordinated by the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UWL, with participation from the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) of UWL. For more information about this and future events, contact the SBDC at sbdc@uwlax.edu or 608.785.8782.
