Big data and better decisions: How companies are using data to improve their organization and drive future success

La Crosse, Wis. – “Big data” is the term for large sets of data that can be studied to find trends and patterns. Companies typically use this data to make important decisions, decrease costs and develop innovative ideas.

Does big data really have a significant impact on companies? The companies using big data seek to improve their efficiency. Those that don’t participate may fall behind. UW-La Crosse Economics Professor TJ Brooks will discuss the use and impact of big data at the upcoming Spring Economic Indicators Breakfast at 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in The Bluffs at the UWL Student Union. Also, a panel of business professionals will explain and share how big data is impacting the way companies make decisions.

Breakfast will begin at 7 with the program at 7:20, ending by 9. Registration is $25; pre-registration is required by Monday, Feb. 25. Seating is limited.
