David Audretsch, a distinguished professor and the Ameritech Chair of Economic Development at Indiana University, will give the keynote address during the Entrepreneurship Conversations conference Friday, March 31, at UWL.

UWL’s Menard Family Initiative to host conference Friday, March 31

The Menard Family Initiative at UW-La Crosse will host economic experts and local business owners during Entrepreneurship Conversations, a one-day conference set for Friday, March 31. 

David Audretsch, a distinguished professor and the Ameritech Chair of Economic Development at Indiana University, will give the keynote address.  

There will also be a panel discussion featuring Scott Niederjohn (professor of economics and director of the Free Enterprise Center at Concordia University in Mequon), Gary Wagner (Acadiana Business Economist Endowed Chair at the University of Louisiana) and La Crosse area entrepreneurs. 

All events will take place in the Hall of Nations, Centennial Hall.  

The schedule is as follows: 

  • 9-10 a.m. — “Entrepreneurship in the Midwest” (business community panel) 
  • 10-11 a.m. — Coffee and Conversation (break) 
  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. — “Democracy and Entrepreneurship” (keynote address) 

The conference is free and open to the public, although RSVPs are required.

The Menard Family Midwest Initiative for Economic Engagement and Research at UWL is led by Co-Directors Adam Stivers and Nabamita Dutta. The initiative hosts events and semester-long discussion groups, provides scholarships and other opportunities, and promotes economic-related topics to the campus and the community.
