Fair Trade sale set for Nov. 28-29

Posted 3:04 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011

With the holiday season approaching, several student organizations are promoting an alternative to holiday shopping — a Fair Trade Sale. The sale runs from 9 a.m-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, and 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Port O’ Call, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition. Fair trade sales sell products that are 100-percent socially responsible. The certified products guarantee fair wages for workers, quality products, community development and sustainable environment. Fair trade products will be available from Terra Experience, Ten Thousand Villages, Heart of the Sky and Equal Exchange. Student organizers hope the event spreads awareness about the fair trade movement and how each purchase counts toward the welfare of others in impoverished countries.
