Feb. 23-28 is National TRIO Week

A program that helps students with disadvantaged backgrounds is being recognized Monday, Feb. 23-Saturday, Feb. 28.

TRIO week artwork. A program that helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds is being recognized this week, Monday, Feb. 23-Saturday, Feb. 28. It is National TRIO Week. UW-L National TRIO week events include:
  • 1-4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23 — Eat free cake in Student Support Services; 2131 Centennial Hall
  • 8 a.m.-4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 — Sign the support banner “I am thankful for TRIO because …;”  2131 Centennial Hall
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 — Write a note of thanks to someone who has inspired and encouraged you; Cameron Hall of Nations, Centennial Hall
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 — Learn more about SSS and get a free sucker; Cartwright Center
  • 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27 — Get treats and inspiration; 2131 Centennial Hall
  • 9 a.m.--noon Saturday, Feb. 28 — Volunteer with SSS at the WAFER Food Pantry. Register now at 608.785.8535.
TRIO is a national outreach and student service program. It includes eight programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities to progress through middle school to post baccalaureate programs. UW-L hosts three of the eight programs: Student Support Services (SSS), McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement and Upward Bound. The TRIO program is funded through the Department of Education. This week's campus events are sponsored by UW-L’s Student Support Services and SSS Leadership Council.
