Film festival to exhibit latest Spanish, Portuguese cinema

Five films will be shown, followed by discussions March 19-21

A film festival at UWL will exhibit the latest in Spanish and Portuguese language cinema while introducing students and others to the cultures of Ibero American countries. Films will be screened Monday, March 19 - Wednesday, March 21, in Hesprich Auditorium, Graff Main Hall, 1725 State St. Admission is free. Five films will be shown, followed by discussions. They include:
  • “Neruda” – 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 19 – Discussion led by Sergio Guerrero, UWL student
  • “Panama Canal Stories” – 7 p.m. Monday, March 19 – Discussion led by UWL Spanish Club
  • “Empty Classroom” – 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 – Discussion led by Kimberly Morris, assistant professor of Global Cultures and Languages
  • “Don't Call Me Son” – 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 – Discussion led by Willem Van Rosenbeek, director of UWL LGBTQ Services & Programs
  • “The Companion” – 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21 – Discussion led by Omar Granados, associate professor of Global Cultures and Languages
