Flamenco and Spanish dance company Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana will dance across the UW-La Crosse stage. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.
Tickets are $3 for UW-L students and $6 for others. Prices increase $2 the day of the show.
Flamenco Vivo Carlotta Santana was founded in 1983 by Carlota Santana and Roberto Lorca. Their goal was to bring flamenco, a Spanish cultural music and dance style, to mainstream audiences. Lorca died during the AIDS epidemic in 1987, but Santana was determined to keep the dream alive.
Since then, Flamenco Vivo Carlotta Santana has been performing at The Joyce Theater in New York. They also go on two country-wide tours each year. Their fall tour, “The Soul of Flamenco,” will illustrate how passionate and dramatic this cultural art form can be.
For more information, call the Cartwright Information Counter at 608.785.8898. The performance is part of the university’s Campus Activities Board Series.
