Former Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist to give La Crosse presentations

Former Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist will give presentations in La Crosse about “Cities and Sustainability.”

John Norquist[/caption] Former Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist will give presentations in La Crosse about “Cities and Sustainability.” Norquist, who served as mayor of Wisconsin’s largest city from 1988-2003, is the CEO and president of the Congress for the New Urbanism. CNU promotes walkable, mixed-use neighborhood development, sustainable communities, and healthier living conditions. Norquist will present his signature slideshow about the importance of cities and the negative effects of suburban sprawl during a UW-La Crosse presentation at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in 1400 Centennial Hall. The presentation is free and open to the public. Norquist will repeat the presentation for area city and county government officials, and area business leaders from 7:30-9 a.m. Friday, April 4, in the Radisson Hotel. The program is free, but those attending must RSVP by calling 608.7885.8436. His visit is sponsored by the UW-L Political Science/Public Administration Department and the City of La Crosse.
