Russell Cleary Leadership Lecture set for Oct. 29 at UWL

Harry M. Jansen Kraemer, Jr., will present “From Values to Action” during the Russell Cleary Leadership Lecture at UW-La Crosse. The free public lecture will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in Hesprich Auditorium, Graff Main Hall, 1725 State St., La Crosse. Register and find parking information online. Kraemer is executive partner with Madison Dearborn Partners, Chicago, and clinical professor of Strategy at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Kraemer says doing the right thing while delivering outstanding and lasting results can be difficult for leaders to achieve, but in today’s economic and political environment values-based leaders are needed more than ever. Kraemer suggests that there are four principles that guide leaders to make choices that are aligned with their values: Self-Reflection, Balance, True Self-Confidence and Genuine Humility. Drawing from first-hand experiences as the former chairman and CEO of Baxter International and from his teaching at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Kraemer offers leaders a framework to adopt the four principles of values-based leadership to make their organizations beacons of enduring value in the world.

About the lecture series

The Russell G. Cleary Distinguished Business Leader Lecture honors Russell Cleary who attended UWL from 1951-54 and earned the Graff Distinguished Alumni Award in 1980. Cleary built La Crosse’s Heileman Brewing Co. into one of the largest breweries in the country. In addition to numerous other awards, he was named Executive of the Year by “Corporate Report Magazine” in 1980. Cleary, a strong supporter of UWL, was committed to serving the La Crosse community.
