UWL baseball team working to return to World Series

The UWL men’s baseball team is back in a familiar place. The team is the top seed in its regional bracket and is playing at the same field as last year: theirs. “It’s obviously nice to play at home,” says senior Taylor Kohlwey, one of several Eagles to earn WIAC honors this season. “We get to sleep in our own beds and we know the field.” The team opened up the tournament with a 17-2 win against Beloit College on Wednesday. Regional games continue through the weekend with the winner advancing to the championship tournament in Appleton later this month. Last year, the squad made it to the World Series before losing to SUNY-Cortland. “We’re going all the way this year. That’s our goal,” says senior Travis Buxton-Verstegen. “We won’t settle for anything less.”
