The Gertrude Salzer Gordon Jazz in the Park Concert Series with the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra continues Sunday, June 17, at Riverside Park.
The concert begins 7 p.m. in the band shell and is free and open to the public. The rain site is the Freight House.
Vocalist and drummer Tim Henke steps out in this second concert to front the band with selections from Frank Sinatra and Steve Lawrence. Henke’s selections include Lawrence's swinging arrangement of "More" and Sinatra's version of "The Lady is a Tramp."
Trombonist Mark Glasel has a solo in "Time After Time," a recent selection from Tom Kubis' west coast ensemble. The orchestra rocks on with a K.C. And the Sunshine Band medley and Athens Champs 1958 hit, "Tequila." Swing fans will enjoy Artie Shaw's "Moon Glow" and Glenn Miller's "The Nearness of You."
The La Crosse Jazz Orchestra is Western Wisconsin's only jazz repertory orchestra. The ensemble was formed in 1972 to perform "Jazz On A Sunday Afternoon" for the Great River Festival of the Arts Summer Concert Series. The orchestra is directed by UW-La Crosse Music Department Chair Greg Balfany.

•Friday, July 13 — 7:30 p.m. Crazy Daze Dance Party by the Pump House, King Street (Rain Site is Grand River Station)
•Sunday, July 22 — 3 p.m. Riverside Jazz Party, featuring a special guest artist. (Rain site is Valhalla, UW-L Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.)
