The Gertrude Salzer-Gordon Jazz in the Park 2015 Concert Series will feature vocalist Cathy Reitz.
The Gertrude Salzer-Gordon Jazz in the Park 2015 Concert Series continues at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 21, in La Crosse’s Riverside Park.
Eau Claire guest vocalist Cathy Reitz will perform several selections with the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra including "Accentuate the Positive" and "In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening."
The band continues its presentation of legendary composer Benny Carter. Selections from the Carter library include: “Symphony in Riffs,” “Remember” featuring saxophonist and band leader Greg Balfany, and “Meetin’ Time” featuring the trombones. Tim Henke will return to the drum chair and perform Buddy Rich’s “The Rotten Kid.”
The rain site is the Cavalier Theatre, 114 Fifth Ave. N. Remaining performances for the summer series include:
Friday, July 24, Downtown La Crosse Street Dance, 300 block of Pearl Street — 7 p.m. Downtown Mainstreet recreates many of the classic ’40s dance hits, but also includes music from mainstream contemporary pop culture.
Sunday, July 26 — Riverside Jazz Party in Riverside Park – 5 p.m. (rain site is the Weber Theater). Kansas City internationally acclaimed jazz diva Deborah Brown brings her personal interpretations to many great tunes including “I’ve Got My Love,” “Always,” “A Little Tear” and more.
