Jay Lokken will support the development of international scholarships, work closely with the School of Arts and Communication and other advancement activities.

Jay Lokken joined UW-La Crosse’s University Advancement team as a development officer Jan. 5. Lokken will support the development of international scholarships, work closely with the School of Arts and Communication, support the Theatre Department Annual Gala, as well as other advancement activities.
Lokken is a La Crosse native and Logan High School graduate. He earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations and a master’s degree in international affairs from American University, School of International Service in Washington, D.C. After completing his master’s degree, Lokken was awarded the prestigious Friedrich Neumann Fellowship for postgraduate studies at University of Bonn, Germany.
Lokken started at UW-L in Nov. 1988 as the international internship coordinator in Career Services. He became director of International Education in 1995 and oversaw expansive growth in the areas of study abroad, international students numbers, campus Fulbright participation, as well as the development of new faculty and staff international exchanges.
In addition to his work on campus, Lokken worked closely with the international efforts of La Crosse Public Schools and community organizations. He is past chair of Region V for the U.S. for NAFSA, Association of International Educators, and a founding member of the American Council on Education (ACE) International Collaborative.
In addition to his tenure as director of International Education, Lokken served as a City of La Crosse council member for the 8th district and provided significant leadership in La Crosse for neighborhood and historic preservation. Lokken also serves as vice president of RLR Investment and Properties in La Crosse and vice president of Ed3 Educational Consulting.
