UW-L students help tornado-ravaged Tuscaloosa

Five UW-L students took a road trip May 16-21 to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to help with relief efforts after the city was struck by a mile-wide tornado April 27.

DigiCOPY update

Document Services officially closed Friday, May 27. Chuck Forer and Elizabeth Zuege will be available for the next few weeks to assist with the transition to DigiCOPY and to answer any questions about electronic file storage. If you have printing needs or if you have any questions about capabilities, turnaround times and delivery, please contact Patrick Thoney, DigiCOPY Sales Manager, at 715.828.2486 or thoney@dcopy.net. As the next weeks unfold, DigiCOPY plans to communicate with the campus community about processes and procedures and introduce DigiCOPY staff. “We will ensure a smooth transition as we begin operations and delivery routes are determined. Our goal is to continue to offer you the level of service Chuck and Elizabeth have provided over the years. We also intend to expand your capabilities through our full line of services,” said Thoney. Writing Center is at your service

Experiencing writer’s block? The Writing Center is open during summer months to help students with any stage of the writing process. Tutors are available to help with research papers, essays, scholarship applications and other writing projects. The Writing Center will remain open until Aug. 12 and reopen again fall semester. What: Free 30-minute, one-on-one appointments with a tutor at the UW-L Writing Center Where: Room 256 Murphy Library When: Hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. 9 a.m. - noon and 3 – 6 p.m. Thursday Who: Students from all classes and majors are welcome. Reception to honor long-time staff member

A reception to honor Executive Assistant to the Chancellor Susan Butterfield will be from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the Gathering Place in The Cleary Alumni & Friends Center. Butterfield is retiring after a 42-year career at UW-L. She has served in the Geography, Physics and Chemistry departmental offices, as well as the Small Business Development Center, Provost's Office, and Advancement and External Relations Division. Equal Opportunity Specialist Judith Albert will be transitioning into the executive assistant to the chancellor role early in June.
