The Eagles, one of 68 institutions to earn the distinction, compiled a cumulative 3.10 grade point average. UW-L earned the award as a result of being the highest-placing team (third) with at least a 3.10 cumulative grade point average at the most recent NCAA Indoor Championships. Salisbury University (Md.) was selected the outdoor honoree with a 3.14 grade point average. Salisbury placed second at the outdoor meet. The Eagles placed third at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. UW-L also swept the 2010 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) indoor and outdoor titles. Along with the team academic award, UW-L had 10 student-athletes named to the 2010 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team. Seniors Matt Gordy, Aaron Johnson, Connor Lonning, Paul Moran, Andy Novak and David Stauder; junior Ryan Mendez; sophomore Paul Yerhot and freshmen Kellen McCrary and Tyson Young each earned the honor. UW-L led all institutions with its 10 student-athletes being named to the All-Academic Track & Field Team. Josh Buchholtz completed his second season as head coach at UW-L in 2010. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either the NCAA Division III indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard.
