Associate Professor Tammy Fisher to conduct city concert
Associate Professor of Music Tammy Fisher will be the featured conductor with the La Crosse Concert band Wednesday, July 18, at Riverside Park. The concert program will follow the “Sousa” format. And, the band will perform a Sousa march as an encore to featured selections.
The featured selections will showcase several soloists with the band, just like John Philip Sousa’s concerts did more than 100 years ago. One of the featured soloists is Kathryn Skemp Moran, who teaches voice and serves as music director in the UWL Theater Department. She will sing two pieces with the band – “Vilya,” from the “Merry Widow,” and “Italian Street Song” from the American operetta, “Naughty Marietta."
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and includes a children’s march. Admission is free. The rain site is Central High School. Get more information about the La Crosse Concert Band.
