Students set to travel south to help build homes.

Nearly three dozen UWL students will be taking an alternative to a break at home or on a beach this spring. They will be heading down to Alabama to help build homes. The 32 students will be volunteering for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Birmingham.  For several years now, UWL students have given up the break to go make a difference in other communities. “It’s a good way to give back,” says UWL senior Sarah Costello, who’s making her 4th trip. “We get to go somewhere warm, have fun and help. It’s so rewarding.” The students leave Saturday, March 12 and come back the following Sunday. The students did some fundraising to help cut their out of pocket costs. They also spend time helping in the La Crosse community. Currently Habitat for Humanity is building its 41st home in the area since it's establishment in 1992.
