Coate Hall's annual St. Baldrick’s fundraiser brought together campus and community members to support those with cancer.

Organizers of the seventh annual St. Baldrick’s event at UW-La Crosse raised nearly $30,000 for childhood cancer research.
For four hours on Saturday, March 8, 108 students, staff, faculty and community members cut and shaved their hair in solidarity with those afflicted with cancer. They raised $29,256.71 for the cause. Those who had long enough hair also donated their locks to be made into wigs for cancer patients.
“Children need to know that bald certainly is beautiful,” says Coate Hall Director Lisa Jicinsky. “It’s a heartwarming event that brings hundreds of spectators and participants to tears of joy and admiration.”
Jicinsky says the event was possible due to 34 volunteers and five barbers, mostly from Salon Tease in Downtown La Crosse.
