About the student employee of the year award
UWL student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. The university depends on this workforce for daily operations. Since 1991, UWL has participated in the National Student Employee of the Year program to recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who work while attending college.
The nomination begins at the institutional level and then goes to the state, regional and possibly the national level for consideration. Eligibility is determined for all student employees who have been employed for a minimum of six months part-time or three months full-time between June 1 and May 31. Students are reviewed based on how they exhibit NACE competencies in their position, using the Career Readiness Guide: Career & Self Development, Communication, Critical Thinking, Equity & Inclusion, Leadership, Professionalism, Teamwork and Technology.
