Students' e-mail delivery to EagleApps began June 7

Posted 11:56 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2010

Since June 7, all new student e-mail is delivered to EagleApps powered by Google. Students can begin using EagleApps by following the instructions posted at www.uwlax.edu/eagleapps. There may be delays with some messages coming from off campus that are sent to “students.uwlax.edu” accounts. ITS has taken steps to ensure delays will be as minimal as possible. Although student e-mail addresses are changing to end with “uwlax.edu," mail sent to either a “uwlax.edu” or “students.uwlax.edu” will be delivered. The student pilot of EagleApps included approximately 600 students this spring and grew to include all students enrolled in summer courses at UW-L. Feedback from the pilot has been exceptionally positive with 95 percent of students in the pilot report they “like” (39 percent) or “like very much” (56 percent) EagleApps. The success of the pilot allowed ITS to move forward with the switch for all students. When students log in to EagleApps, they can use the following services: Gmail – E-mail storage of more than 7GB and growing. Calendar – The ability to set appointments, reminders, tasks and a variety of common calendars for holidays, sporting events and more. Also, users can easily share their calendars with other EagleApps users. Chat – An instant messaging service connecting users to friends and others. Docs – The ability to create, share and collaborate on documents with others — online. Planning for the faculty and staff migration to EagleApps is underway. Watch the Campus Connection and UW-L's home page for information. See the most frequently-asked questions regarding EagleApps at www.uwlax.edu/eagleapps/faq.htm.
