Students earn choral awards

Two students selected by their fellow choir members and choir conductor to receive prestigious year-end awards.

Ben Anderson, left, a senior bio-medical science major from Loyal, and Riley Bowman, a junior vocal performance and marketing major from Spring Valley, received awards from the UWL Concert Choir for the 2015-16 academic year.[/caption] Two members of UW-La Crosse's Concert Choir were selected to receive prestigious year-end awards by fellow choir members and the choir's conductor, Professor Gary Walth. Ben Anderson has received the 2015-16 Concert Choir Singer of the Year/Most improved Award. Anderson, a senior from Loyal, is majoring in bio-medical science. He has been a member of the choir for four years. Anderson was also a past member of university’s Männerchor and Wind Ensemble. Riley Bowman has received the 2015-16 Concert Choir Chorister of the Year Award for outstanding choral musicianship as voted by her peers. Bowman is a junior vocal performance and marketing major from Spring Valley. She was also selected by the UWL Music Department faculty to sing in the annual Honors Recital and received a Music Department Scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year. Riley has been a member of the Concert Choir for the past three years and served as the choir’s president in 2015-16. She also sings with two UWL vocal jazz ensembles, La Capella and Collegiates.
