Have you ever wondered what happens at UWL between the spring and fall semesters? Here are just some of the highlights.


Hundreds of high school athletes from across Wisconsin descended on UWL for the WIAA State Track and Field Championships. UWL has hosted the championships every year since 1990.


Neck and neck.
Athletes competed in the pole vault, high jump, long jump, triple jump, discus and shot put, along with various dash, relay and hurdle events.
Leaving it all on the track.
The event attracts as many as 20,000 spectators each year.
Before returning to her role as provost, interim Chancellor Betsy Morgan was honored during a surprise celebration in Graff Main Hall.

Jonathan Majak, a cataloger for Murphy Library, set out to read 101 books in 106 days — a challenge aimed at promoting the library's leisure reading section. His favorite title was "Sea of Tranquility" by Emily St. John Mandel.

Terry Micks retired in July after 27 years in UWL's Financial Aid Office. Micks helped countless young people navigate the complexities of student loans.

Through a seed grant program, researchers from UWL and Mayo Clinic Health System are conducting joint research designed to address needs and improve health outcomes in the Coulee Region. Patio Days is a chance for the campus community to connect over a well-cooked meal on the lawn outside the Student Union.
New Chancellor James Beeby has used events like Patio Days to build relationships with staff and faculty.
La Crosse resident Walter Van Roo walks around the Fieldhouse with physical therapy student Casey Breunig as part of the university's Lower Extremity Amputee Program. Led by Assistant Professor Inga Cluppert, the program enlists students to create personalized exercise plans for clients with lower extremity amputations.
