UW-L Art Professor Jennifer Williams Terpstra brings new life to old art form with "Transcendence/Immanence: New Encaustic Paintings," the current exhibit in the University Art Gallery. A closing reception is set for Friday, Sept. 13.[/caption]
UW-L Art Professor Jennifer Williams Terpsta brought new life to the ancient art form of encaustic, found at the Fayoum Oasis in Egypt, in her summer exhibit in the University Art Gallery.
The exhibit includes paintings and works on paper that explore the craft tradition of crochet as domestic adornment.
A closing reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, with piano music by Daren Williams. See photos of her work at http://goo.gl/iR4mI1.
The show runs through Saturday, Sept. 14.
Along with the UW-L exhibit, Terpstra will also take part in the “Tri-State Invitational: Three Women/Three States” exhibit at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona Oct. 25, 2013 – Jan. 12, 2014. Details on the show are at: www.minnesotamarineart.org
