Trans singer-songwriter to perform March 11

Transgender singer-songwriter Namoli Brennet, who has been named among the best folk-rock artists in the U.S., will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.

Brennet is known for insightful lyrics and poetic language, but it's her live performances that set her apart from the conventional label of singer-songwriter. On stage Brennet reveals deft acoustic guitar chops, often incorporating foot percussion, loops, vocoder and Kaki-King style tapping to create a broad, layered soundscape. Brennet is a four-time Outmusic award nominee whose music was featured in the emmy-award-winning documentary "Out in the Silence." She was also recently named to the inaugural Trans 100 list. The concert is free but suggested donation is $3 for students and $10 for others. The event is sponsored by The LGBT Resource Center, Pride Center and Transform. Download flier at Brennet.
