UW-L's University Bookstore is featured in a national magazine for college stores.
UW-L's University Bookstore featured in a national magazine for college stores.
The bookstore is pictured on the cover of the July/August 2011 issue of College Store Executive, the national news and merchandising magazine of the college store industry. The cover touts “Enhanced Look, Enhanced Shopping at UW-La Crosse.” A two-page article inside highlights the store’s recent renovation.
“We’re very excited and proud to be featured in this national publication,” says Carlena Goddeau, University Bookstore manager. “It’s good to know the hard work we’ve put in to improve the store is being recognized by our peers.”
The 5,300-square-feet store had a major renovation in March 2010 after the Follett Higher Education Group took over management of the store in July 2009. Prior to that, the bookstore had been managed through the university’s Student Centers.
The University Bookstore moved to its current location when Cartwright Center was renovated in the mid-1980s. The retail space had not been updated since. Last year’s remodel included a new layout along with a design scheme customized with the university’s maroon and gray school colors.
Since taking over management of the store, Follett has added more brand-name apparel, along with electronic supplies and popular gift items. Follett also manages the university’s textbook rental program that rents approximately 55,000 books each semester.
The bookstore also sells online at www.uwl.bkstr.com.
