Faculty and students from the Department of Exercise & Sport Science invite all alumni to join them at a reception during the SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) National Convention.
The annual social provides networking opportunities for current students, faculty, friends and alumni.
All alumni are welcome to attend the conference from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19 at Rock Bottom Brewery, 1333 Fifth Ave., Seattle. Appetizers and a cash bar available. Register.
The social gives faculty and students an opportunity to interact with many well-established professionals from all over the country. It provides faculty time to catch up with former students and learn about their career paths.
Undergraduate students are also introduced to alumni and others who direct master’s degree programs that fund graduate students. UW-L master’s degree students link with faculty at other universities who direct doctoral programs and provide fellowships for graduate students. Many UW-L alumni direct these master’s and doctoral programs. This gives UW-L students an important connection to potential career changing opportunities. Many students are able to make important job or graduate school connections at this event.
It also provides alumni the opportunity to find out what is new in the department and at the university. Connections are made and messages are shared among current students all the way to those who graduated decades ago and still remember UW-La Crosse as their starting point for a lifelong career.
