The concert, featuring UW-L faculty and students, is part of the Gale Star Music Nights, a Saturday evening series that started in February in hopes of raising money for the historic building. Admission for Gale Star individual concerts is $4 for college students and younger, and $8 for others. The Old Main Building is located on the south end of 12th Street in Galesville. The concert will feature some of the university's premier student musicians who were awarded scholarships to perform in the university's Cordeiro Woodwind Quintet and Symphonic Brass Quintet. Students in the Cordeiro Woodwind Quintet include Angie Schrabeck, flute, Onalaska; Scott Horton, oboe, West Salem; Emma Gimse White, horn, Shell Lake; Sarah Seguine-Hall, bassoon, Evanston Review, Ill.; and Justin Asher, clarinet, La Crescent. Members of the Symphonic Brass Quintet include James Jewson, trumpet, Fond du Lac; Gerrit Van Ruiswyk, trumpet, Elm Grove; Erin Miller, horn, Roseville, Minn.; Brandon Martinez, trombone, La Crosse; and Sam Duga, tuba, Holmen. The concert will conclude with the UW-L Faculty Piano Trio performing Beethoven's “Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 1, No. 1.” The trio includes Mary Tollefson, music faculty; Aasheeta Parikh, violin, UW-L PA program; and Derek Clark, music faculty. The concert was inspired by the idea of making the connection to the building's original purpose, Galesville University. Jim Riley, organizer of many of the concerts in the series, thought it would be special to reach out to regional universities with the similar mission to serve the community through the arts. The performing venue in Old Main Building is on the third floor and seats about 100 people.
