UW-L police apprehend person on campus with unloaded gun

An incident at UW-La Crosse this morning has ended with a part-time student being apprehended and arrested. Around 9:30 a.m., a student who had earlier made threats to campus administrators was seen carrying a hunting shotgun on campus. He was spotted by campus police and immediately apprehended. The weapon he was carrying was unloaded. Shortly after the incident happened, campus police alerted students, employees and others about the incident through email and voice mail messages. Campus police are working with City of La Crosse Police in handling the incident. More information will be released as it becomes available.   Statement from UW-L Police Chief Scott Rohde— Earlier this morning there was an emergency incident on campus.  A subject was seen with  a shotgun on campus property and he entered  a campus building.  The situation was quickly resolved by campus police.  No injuries resulted, no shots were fired.  There is no further threat to campus.  More information will follow.
