The death of Osama bin Laden has stirred emotions across the country and prompted celebratory rallies at various college campuses. The reactions prompted Heidi Morrison, UW-La Crosse assistant professor of history, to create a space for discussion on the UW-L campus. Morrison will facilitate a discussion at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the Ward Room, UW-L Cartwright Center. It’s a chance for students, faculty, staff and the wider La Crosse community to process the news of his death and what it means to them, the nation and the world, she said. “9-11 represents a lot in the historical imaginations of Americans. Clearly people around the nation are reacting to the news,” Morrison said. “This is a matter that involves life and death for many people. It’s critical for us to think together about our feelings.” If you go— What: Discussion on the meaning of the death of Osama bin Laden Where: Ward Room, UW-L Cartwright Center When: 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5 Admission: Free
