UW-L Provost Heidi Macpherson[/caption] UW-L Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Heidi Macpherson has been selected as the next president of the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Brockport. She will begin her new position at Brockport in mid July. “In her three years as UW-L's Provost, Dr. Macpherson has accomplished much, including instituting the Provost's Teaching Awards, creating the Institute for Campus Excellence (ICE) in Murphy Library, and hiring several other academic affairs administrators,” says UW-L Chancellor Joe Gow. “These are important improvements to our campus and we're grateful to Heidi for making them.” Macpherson came to UW-L in July 2012 after serving as dean of humanities at De Montfort University in Leicester, England. She says she has felt privileged to having been welcomed warmly on campus and in the La Crosse community. “UW-L is a wonderful university full of good, committed people who make a difference to our students and our community,” says Macpherson. “I feel very fortunate to have been able to work so closely with highly professional and collaborative individuals. I am particularly indebted to the wonderful colleagues who supported me in academic affairs.” Macpherson says she is excited to become the next president at Brockport, which has similarities to her current position. “Like UW-L, Brockport is committed to undergraduate research and student success, particularly leadership development,” she says. “I look forward to working collaboratively with my new team to build on their already successful initiatives.” Macpherson thanks UW-L colleagues for their “support, guidance, trust and good faith” over the last three years. “I truly loved getting to know UW-L, La Crosse, and the region, and I have met some good friends here and throughout the UW System,” she says. “I also feel privileged to have been welcomed into the wider La Crosse community and onto the committees and boards I have been able to serve.”
