Watch amateur as well as internationally-ranked log rollers at The Fifth Annual Three Rivers Roleo Log Rolling Tournament Saturday, August 11 at the Great River Landing in Onalaska.
UW-L students and siblings Katie and Jacob Rick started organizing the tournament in 2008 as a local amateur tournament and have continued to expand it every year since. At a log rolling tournament, competitors vie to see who can stay atop a log rolling on water the longest. Last year the tournament attracted a few world champion rollers and they expect to bring competitors who have been on ESPN for the Great Outdoor Games and the STIHL Timbersports Series® to this year’s tournament.
In addition to organizing the Three Rivers Roleo, the two siblings also compete at the international level. They’ve both placed within the top five in World Championship competitions in log rolling or boom running. Katie has been featured on ESPN for the STIHL Timbersports Series®. She is

an ‘08 alumna and full-time student in the Master of Business Administration program who completes her program in August. Jacob is a UW-L senior and recreation management major.
The amateur division will begin at 10 a.m. and the professional division starts at 2 p.m. Parking is available in the bicycle trail parking lot on Hwy. 35 in Onalaska. Head down the hill on Irvin Street toward the river to the competition site. Admission for spectators is free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
The tournament is a partnership with the Onalaska Enhancement Foundation and Onalaska Park & Recreation. Major sponsors include KWIK Trip and STIHL®, The Waterfront Restaurant and Tavern, Fowler and Hammer and Onalaska Center for Commerce & Tourism.
