Posted 6:49 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2011

Volunteering Within, a UW-La Crosse volunteer service organization, organized a Trick or Treat for Cans on Halloween. The group as well as other students and clubs participating collected about 2,800 non-perishable food and personal hygiene items from La Crosse homes. They items were distributed to WAFER, The Salvation Army and the UW-L "Helping Our Own" Food Pantry. Volunteering Within participates in many volunteer activities in addition to the annual Trick or Treat for Cans such as Children's Museum activities, playing cards at Village on Cass, Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity and more. Check out this video of UW-L freshman students knocking on doors for the cause. From left, Rachel Nasby, Hannah McAllister and Liz Brown (not pictured, Katie Dobbs).
