Young Frankenstein Artwork.UW-L's Department of Theatre Arts production, "Young Frankenstein," a Mel Brooks’ classic, takes the stage with all the hilarity of the original silver screen comedy and a few added bonuses. "Young Frankenstein" will show at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, Saturday, March 1, and Thursday, March 6, through Saturday, March 8. Matinee performances will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2 and 9, in Toland Theatre, Center for the Arts. This zany musical begins when Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (that’s pronounced Fronkensteen!) travels to the town of Transylvania Heights where his recently deceased scientific grandfather left everything he owns to Frederick. Parting from his adorable madcap fiancée, Elizabeth, Frankenstein soon meets his assistant Igor (that’s pronounced Eye-gor!), a hunchbacked tap dance enthusiast, and Inga, a buxom blonde with a flair for yodeling. While the town still fears the Frankenstein name, Frederick insists he is nothing like his experimental, corpse-raising mad scientist grandfather. However, after discovering a lost journal of Victor Frankenstein’s, Frederick perfects his grandfather’s scientific formula and brings the dead to life! With a monster running around Transylvania Heights, will the townspeople learn to accept the odd creature and his creator or will they take matters into their own hands?
