It may be called “winter break,” but that doesn’t mean area kids have to take one.
Kids ages 5-12 are invited to stay active this holiday season by signing up for UW-L’s Winter Youth Sports and Fitness Camp, designed to teach kids concepts such as sportsmanship, teamwork, nutrition and fitness.
The camp runs from 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Dec. 27–29, in UW-L’s Mitchell Hall gymnasium and classrooms.
Kids will play basketball, football, volleyball, kickball, soccer, whiffleball, pickleball and ultimate Frisbee. They’ll also participate in parachute activities. The camp is $25 per day and campers may sign up for one or multiple days. Campers must provide their own snacks and lunch.
To register or for more information visit www.uwlcamps.com or call 608.785.8181. Walk-ins are welcome as long as daily camper limit is not met. Contact Lori Petersen at 608.785.8186 to register a child with a physical disability or other special needs.
Drop-off will be from 8-9 a.m. daily, and pick-up 4-5 p.m. daily.
Lori Petersen, who teaches UW-L physical education majors, and Brian Udermann, a professor of exercise and sports science, are the camp directors. They have 50 years of combined experience working with and encouraging youth to live more active and healthy lifestyles.
