Public talk on the importance of insects in people's lives globally.

Insects can transmit disease, spread pollen, provide nutrition and inspire technology. The list of their importance for human culture and survival is long, says Barrett Klein, UW-La Crosse associate professor of Biology.
Klein will give a public talk on how insects affect people’s lives at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the Brian and Lori Hesprich Auditorium, Graff Main Hall. The lecture is free.
The talk will be recorded for Wisconsin Public TV’s “University Place,” a collection of instructional videos from university and community events available online at http://wpt.org/programs/university-place.
Klein has shared the importance of insects with audiences across the globe.
“I wanted to reach out to a local audience to exchange thoughts about how insects affect our lives, internationally and locally,” he says. “Every place has its unique connection with insects and La Crosse is no exception.”
Klein’s lecture will be available on University Place soon after the talk at http://wpt.org/programs/university-place.
Klein was asked to give the talk for the online program. Lectures cover a range of subjects including environmental studies, health and nutrition, history, business and more.
