The UW-La Crosse vocal jazz ensembles “Collegiates” and “La Capella” will give a concert of musical hits from the 1930s.

The UW-La Crosse vocal jazz ensembles “Collegiates” and “La Capella” will give a concert of musical hits from the 1930s. The ensembles go back in time at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, in Annett Recital Hall in the UWL Center for the Arts, 16th and Vine streets. The UWL singers will perform as an old-time radio show broadcast from a fictitious radio station, KVJE 160 “Jazz Radio on the Mississippi,” and will include 1930s-era commercials. Ensemble arrangements and solos by composers George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin will be featured. UWL Music Professor Gary Walth directs the ensembles.
