Bike registration
A page within University Police Department
We are pleased to announce a collaborative initiative between the La Crosse Police Department and UW–La Crosse to launch and promote the 529 Garage Bicycle Registration Program on campus and throughout the broader La Crosse community.
The 529 Garage is a secure, user-friendly platform designed to help individuals register their bicycles, deter theft, and assist law enforcement in recovering stolen bikes more efficiently. Through this partnership, we aim to increase bike security awareness, streamline the registration process for students, faculty, and residents, and strengthen our joint commitment to community safety.
Educational materials, registration events, and ongoing support will be made available to ensure widespread participation and engagement. Together, we hope to make a meaningful impact on bicycle theft prevention and promote a safer cycling environment for all.
Register Your Bike with 529 Garage
You can create an account and register your bike(s) with 529 Garage two different ways:
1. Download the 529 Garage app on a mobile device.
2. Use the 529 Garage website.
During the registration process, you can upload pictures of your bike(s) which can significantly aid in recovery if lost or stolen. You can also indicate what information you would like other 529 Garage users to see, if you ever report your bike as lost or stolen. The UW-La Crosse Police Department and La Crosse Police Department can see all of your registration details.
Once registered, you can pick up a 529 Garage Shield that you can affix to your bike(s). Shields are available at the UW-La Crosse Police Department, La Crosse Police Department, or any local bike shop. To get the most out of your shield and its protection, put it in a visible location.
