Requirements of the Alcohol Diversion Program
- This must be the first documented alcohol contact with the UW-La Crosse Police Department.
- You must be willing to accept responsibility for personal actions and be willing to learn from potentially at risk behavior.
- Must be between 17-20 years old.
To Complete the Alcohol Diversion:
- You must pay a $100 administration fee.
- You must sign up within 5 business days of being cited.
- You must attend UW La Crosse Police Department's Alcohol Risk Behavior class within 60 days of your citation. A list of class dates are available at sign up.
- You must complete a 2 page impact paper prior to arrival to the on the consequences of your high risk alcohol use as it relates to your specific incident. Please explore how your actions and how these consequences could impact your life now and in the future; ie financial, legally, future employment, relationships ect. The paper must be double spaced with 12 pt Arial font. The paper must be received on the scheduled class date and turned in to the instructor.

This program is designed to create an alternative to being arrested for possession of marijuana and be in lieu of court imposed penalties/record. However, there will be a local record at UW-La Crosse Police Department of your participation in the Marijuana Diversion Program.
Requirements of the Marijuana Diversion Program
- You must be referred to this program by a UW-La Crosse Police Officer. Cooperation is needed in order to be provided the opportunity to be referred to the marijuana diversion program.
- This must be the first documented marijuana contact with the UW-La Crosse Police Department.
- You must be willing to learn from this potentially harmful behavior.
- You must contact the UW-La Crosse Police Department in person at 605 17th St N within 5 business days.
- You must be willing to accept responsibility for personal actions and be willing to learn from potentially at risk behavior.
To Complete the Marijuana Diversion:
- You must pay a $150 administration fee.
- You must meet with a Department representative to discuss your contact with UWL-PD.
- You must complete a 2 page impact paper prior to arrival on the consequences of your drug use as it relates to your specific incident. Please explore how your actions and consequences could impact your life now and in the future; ie financially, legally, future employment, relationships etc. The paper must be double spaced, Arial 12 pt font.
- No further drug offenses for 180 days from this original contact.

Welcome!
You have been cited for a traffic violation. To avoid prosecution for this offense you are being offered a diversion agreement. If you successfully complete this educational program you will not have to attend court, pay the listed fine nor have court record of this citation. You are not admitting guilt but you are taking responsibility for your actions.
- You must be referred to this program by a UW-La Crosse Police Officer.
- This must be the only documented traffic citation with UW-La Crosse Police.
- You must register and complete the program in 10 business days.

Before taking the Traffic Safety Course, please have these things prepared:
- Name
- Citation number (as it appears on the citation)
- You must visit the Parking Office at the UWL Police Department in person at 605 17th St N (Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm). You will be given additional information when you sign up at the office.
- Form of payment (you will be charged a $75.00 administration fee).
- Set aside up to 30 minutes to complete this video and take the test. You will only have access to begin the course one time. The test link is on your traffic diversion agreement form you received when you made payment.
- If you fail to meet any of the criteria above, your offer for diversion will be cancelled and your citation will be sent to court.
