Political Science and Public Administration capstone students study civic engagement.

UW-L faculty, students and campus offices contributed more than 60,000 hours of volunteer time to the community during the 2013-14 academic year, according to a study of civic engagement by Political Science and Public Administration capstone students. Volunteering ranged from business students collecting food for Hunger Task Force to the Screaming Eagles Marching band playing music for veterans boarding the Freedom Honor Flight.
Other results include:
52 volunteer projects donated $25 or more in goods or services
497 projects involved attending a meeting
51 projected involved educating the public on different issues
143 projects involved providing access to information for members of the community.
UW-L was one of 20 campuses nationwide to be part of the American Democracy Project, a two-year study through the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.Total volunteer hours and projects don’t include all campus volunteer work, just people and groups who responded to a survey.
