“An Artistic Discovery” opens Monday, March 28, in the University Art Gallery, on the first floor of the Center for the Arts, 16th and Vine streets. The show culminates with a reception and awards ceremony for the artists, families and the community at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 17. Admission is free. The exhibit, hosted by Rep. Ron Kind and his wife, Tawni Kind, is the 20th presentation of the annual art competition. Each year, high school students in the district are encouraged to submit artwork. The work is juried by judges for inclusion in the exhibition, as well as awards and merit notations. The first place entry will be presented for a year in the U.S. Capitol along with the works of other student artists from across the country. The second place entry will be displayed in Rep. Kind’s Washington, D.C., office, while the third and fourth place pieces will be displayed in Kind’s La Crosse and Eau Claire offices.
