The UWL football team is taking a new approach this season. It’s running its organization like a business. UWL Exercise and Sport Science senior lecturer Kevin King, who previously worked for the Detroit Lions and the WWE, is sharing what he’s learned with the captains of the football team. “Often times leaders don’t have the actual skill sets to lead,” says King. “What I believe is empowering through education.” The team is running its operation based on four pillars: leadership, development, communication and psychology. “We don’t focus on ‘X’s and O’s’ when we meet and talk leadership, we focus on how to better position themselves to become leaders."
