UW-La Crosse is one of only two public colleges in Wisconsin to make “Kiplinger’s Personal Finance” magazine’s list of top 100 best values in public colleges for 2015. “We’re thrilled to remain among the top 100 values in American public higher education,” says UW-L Chancellor Joe Gow. “This reflects our ongoing efforts to provide the highest quality academic experience for our students at a very reasonable price. In fact, when just in-state tuitions are compared, we are the fourth best value in the country among public institutions.” On the public school list, UW-L is ranked No. 65 for in-state students and No. 61 for out-of-state students. The only other Wisconsin public school to make the list is UW-Madison, ranked No. 8 for in-state-students and No. 4 for out-of-state students. All of the colleges and universities on the list meet the leading financial magazine’s definition of value — a quality education at an affordable price. For quality, the magazine measures admissions rates, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate. Learn more about the ranking process. “We salute this year’s top schools,” says Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. “Balancing top-quality education with affordable cost is a challenge for families in today’s economy, which is why Kiplinger’s rankings are such a valuable resource. The schools on the 2015 list offer students the best of both worlds.” UW-L has received “best value” recognition from Kiplinger’s for more than a decade. Also, last March the magazine named UW-L No. 4 on its list of the 25 Best College Values Under $30,000 a Year. The complete rankings, including the top schools overall as well as the best values in public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges, are available online at kiplinger.com/links/college. The rankings will also appear in the February 2015 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, on newsstands Jan. 6, 2015. For more information see Kiplinger's website. UW-L also remains the top-ranked comprehensive university in the UW System for the 14th year in a row, according to U.S.News & World Report’s 2014 America’s Best Colleges list of Best Regional Universities in the Midwest.
