Freshmen on campus for registration, family orientation
Freshmen and their families will be on campus this month at one of nine Freshman Registration and Family Orientation sessions designed to make the transition to college run smoothly. Students also get help registering for classes. Session dates are:- Mondays, June 8, 15, 22 and 29
- Tuesdays, June 23 and 30
- Wednesdays, June 17 and 24
- Friday, June 19

‘Dog Days of Summer’ Annual LIVEMAROON event is Tuesday, June 9
Expect good food and good conversation at LIVEMAROON’s third annual “Dog Days of Summer.” The picnic, open to all employees, runs from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the gazebo in Lindner Forest. A light, picnic lunch will be served while it lasts. Bring a blanket or lawn chair if you’d like. The rain site is Cameron Hall of Nations in Centennial Hall. The “Dog Days of Summer” is sponsored by a University Dining Services Special Promotions grant written by the LIVEMAROON committee. LIVEMAROON, a campus-wide effort to revive campus spirit, is completing its fourth year aimed to embody a campus filled with passion, friendship, community and pride. The initiative is coordinated and sponsored by Campus Climate, Classified Staff Council, University Communications and University Police. Employees should work with supervisors to ensure office coverage. No taxpayer dollars are used to fund the event.Three Oncology professors are keynote speakers at the June 15 bioresearch forum
Lee Ratner, Alan A. and Edith L. Wolff, professors of Oncology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, will present “Targeted Approaches to Treatment of Human T Cell Leukemia Virus Associated Malignancy” at the Monday, June 15, La Crosse Bioresearch Forum. The presentation runs from 12:15-1 p.m. in the Overholt Auditorium, Gundersen Health System.
The free forums are open to the public and hosted by the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation. Those attending should park in the Green ramp or use valet parking. Use the entrances at the north end and northeast side of the medical center.

Jones, English, presented the paper "One Working-Class Teacher's Journey to Teaching" at Fighting Inequality: Class, Race and Power, at a joint conference of the Labor and Working-Class History Association and the Working-Class Studies Association at Georgetown University, Washington D.C., May 28. Tom Kernozek, Health Professions; Danielle Cooper and Sarah Leissring, both DPT graduates, published "Plantar Loading and Foot-Strike Pattern Changes with Speed During Barefoot Running in Those With a Natural Rearfoot Strike Pattern While Shod" in The Foot, 25, 89-96.
