Brief biography

Ashley teaches dance in the Department of Theatre & Dance and advises the dance minors. In addition to teaching at UWL, Ashley continues to create choreography for productions in the department. She was the lead choreographer for the department's inaugural dance concert, Art in Motion, and has choreographed the musicals James and the Giant Peach, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Cinderella.

Professional history

All genres of dance are incorporated into Ashley's professional experience. However, her expertise is in jazz and modern dance. She held company positions with Dancin’ Unlimited Jazz Dance Company, Dance Art Theater, and Exhale Dance Tribe. She has worked with choreographers such as Jon Lehrer, Tiffanie Carson, Marilyn York, Missy Hubbard, and Andrew Hubbard. Ashley received her MFA from the University of Arizona and her BFA from Radford University. In addition to her concert dance roots, she is passionate about musical theatre dance and has choreographed Chicago, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, James and the Giant Peach, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Cinderella.

Ashley Dobrogosz, Theatre & Dance, directed "Art in Motion" on Nov. 1 in Toland Theatre. The dance concert ran through Nov. 3, showcasing talented dance students from across campus. The creative team included faculty/staff members Michelle Collyar, costumes; Mandy Kolbe, lights; David Harlan, sound; Nate Mohlman, technical direction; and Laurie Kincman, stage management.  Students included Elin Voegeli, costumes; Amber Meyers; Ryan Hiroshi Hong; Ellie Burns; and Coleman Breedlove, lights.

Ashley Dobrogosz, Theatre & Dance, presented "Check" at Wisconsin Dance Council Conference on Oct. 12 in Reedsburg, WI. The duet from Art in Motion was selected for the conference showcase. Student dancers Josie Lukan and Kaitlyn Pyburn performed.

Michelle Collyar, Ashley Dobrogosz, Laurie Kincman and Amanda Kolbe, all Theatre & Dance, presented "Art in Motion" at Toland Theatre on Feb. 16 in the department's inaugural dance concert. Theatre & Dance students Brodyn Byington, Katie Krueger, Amber Meyers, Julia Maynard, Sage Goetsch, Ellie Burns, Coleman Breedlove, Avery Weston and Anna Montgomery joined 24 student dancers for the three-performance run of this new part of the Theatre & Dance season.

Michelle Collyar, Ashley Dobrogosz, Laurie Kincman, Megan Morey and Gregory Parmeter, all Theatre & Dance, presented "Cinderella" at UWL SummerStage on June 25 in Toland Theatre. The Department of Theatre & Dance has just completed the successful return of summer theatre to UWL with the production of Cinderella. Directed by Greg Parmeter and choreographed by Ashley Dobrogosz, the production featured scenic and sound design by Megan Morey, costume design by Michelle Collyar, lighting design by theatre student Brodyn Byington and stage management by Laurie Kincman. The production showcased the talents of many UWL students and La Crosse area artists and performers.
