Brief biography

I am a historian of the British Empire in South Asia, focusing on the mountain province of Kashmir. My research focuses on the British intervention in Kashmir in 1885, and I am currently writing a book on the failed plans to connect Kashmir with the rest of British India via railroad. At University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, I teach HIS 110 World History by focusing on the theme of empires, from the Persian Empire to the British Empire. I especially enjoy sharing my love of history with my students, helping them make sense of why the past happened the way it did and how it shaped the present world we live in today.
