Brief biography

Dr. Greer has been playing the trombone since the sixth grade when his arms were barely long enough to reach to the end of the slide. Since that time he has worked to hone his abilities on the instrument and strengthen his skills as a music educator. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University in 2010, a Master of Music from UW-Madison in 2012, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from UW-Madison in 2015.

While he resides in Milton, WI, he has been a frequent visitor to the La Crosse area as principal trombonist of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra from 2015-2024. In addition to teaching low brass lessons at UW-La Crosse, Joseph is also the Music Librarian and Operations Assistant for the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras in Madison, WI.

When he's not working or teaching, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and dog.
