Brief biography
Dr. Jaclyn Reed (Jackie) grew up in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota and attended undergraduate at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University. She found her love for communication through her first-year roommate after a particularly brutal poetry class forced her to reexamine her desire to become an English major. Her undergraduate education sparked a passion for teaching and loves giving students the tools to sharpen their interpersonal communication skills.
Dr. Reed successfully defended her dissertation titled "An Exploration of Newlyweds’ Experiences in the Transition Into Marriage Using Relational Uncertainty and Uncertainty Management Theory" in April 2023. Her dissertation grew from a curiosity and asking why "the first year of marriage is the hardest". Dr. Reed's current research interests include the transition into marriage and if parental marital status impacts newlyweds' types of uncertainty or uncertainty management.
If students attend virtual office hours they may meet her two feline teaching assistants: Charlie and Abby.
