Brief biography
Dr. VanWiel is originally from Des Moines, IA. She now happily lives in the La Crosse area with her husband and two children. Outside of her professional work she enjoys being active with her family, reading, cooking, and drawing.

Career
Teaching history
Dr. VanWiel previously taught as an adjunct professor in the DPT program at St. Ambrose University in cardiopulmonary and integumentary therapeutics.
Professional history
Following her DPT program Dr. VanWiel started her clinical work in pediatrics. She then worked for five years in skilled nursing facilities in both part-time and full-time capacities. During the pandemic she worked in several skilled nursing outbreak facilities and served in ICUs caring for medically complex patients. After joining an all-moms CrossFit class Dr. VanWiel became interested in pelvic floor dysfunction and its effects on maternal physical and emotional health. She then specialized in pelvic floor physical therapy and pursued a PhD in Human Physiology to gain further expertise in maternal pelvic floor dysfunction, physical activity, and cardiovascular disease.
