Memberships
Current UWL students do not need to purchase a membership to use the Recreational Eagle Center (REC) or the Hetzel Fieldhouse. Access is included in your student fees, if enrolled in classes and paying segregated fees for the current semester.
The recreation membership is your ticket to achieve or maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Take advantage of UWL's exceptional recreational facilities by purchasing a membership for the semester, academic year, calendar year, or monthly basis. Membership includes:
- Access to the Fitness Center, track-side cardiovascular and strength equipment, 200 meter track, courts, racquetball court, multipurpose room, conditioning room, and multi-activity court
- Access to the Climbing Wall (academic year only)
- Access to EZONE Esports & Gaming
- Access to the Mitchell Hall pool (academic year only)
- Reduced rental and trip rates at the Outdoor Connection
- Ability to sponsor guests (up to 3 per visit) for appropriate guest fee
- Ability to purchase a group fitness membership
- Ability to rent a locker and purchase towel service
- Eligibility to play intramural sports (academic year only)
- Access to the Hetzel Fieldhouse during scheduled open rec hours (academic year only)

Membership Types
Current Faculty/Staff, Retirees, and Emerti
Eligibility
All UWL faculty, staff, retirees and emeriti are eligible to purchase a recreation membership and must have an official University identification card. The Rec Sports Department extends membership privileges for a fee to the spouse/partner of current students, faculty, staff, retiree and emeriti.
Verification of eligibility:
- UWL faculty, staff, retiree and emeriti: official University identification card
- Spouse/domestic partner: marriage certificate or domestic partner affidavit presented at time of purchase
FREE WEEK: One-Time Free Trial
If you are still deciding on purchasing a membership, Rec Sports offers a 1-week free trial membership for all current UWL faculty, staff, affiliates, retirees, and emeriti for the opportunity to try out the facility and its amenities. The one-time free trial can be used any time throughout the year. To request a free trial membership, visit the REC Information Counter or purchase it online by using the promo code “FREEWEEK”.
Purchasing a Membership
Current UWL faculty and staff may purchase a membership online with a credit card payment (payroll deduction not available online).
Payroll deduction, retirees, emeriti and spouse/partner memberships (spouse/partner eligibility verification required) must be purchased in person at the REC Information Counter. Payment options at the REC include check, credit and debit.
Non-UWL College Students
Eligibility
Visiting college students are eligible to purchase a recreation membership during the winter and summer sessions only.
Verification of Eligibility:
- Valid school ID
- Class schedule for the semester before or after the session
Parking
Must follow University parking policies and procedures. Visitor parking is available in lot C-7. Visitors may purchase short-term or hourly parking at Parking Services during business hours or by using the Passport Parking mobile app.
Guest Pass
During the fall/spring semesters, visiting college students are eligible to purchase a daily guest pass to access the REC with a current UWL sponsor.
During summer/winter break, a sponsor is not required to purchase a guest pass.
Alumni
Eligibility
Alumni must provide verification of alumni status by completing this form. Prospective members will receive a confirmation email that must be presented to the Rec Sports staff when purchasing a membership. Requests for verification will be processed Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm by the Alumni Association.
Alumni members who meet the above requirements are able to sponsor up to 3 guests. Guests must pay the appropriate daily fee based on status. The minimum age for using the REC is 16. Exception: The Climbing Wall & EZONE have no minimum age requirement.
Alumni memberships must be purchased in person at the REC Information Counter. Payment options at the REC include check, credit and debit.
Parking

Guest Pass
Alums are able to purchase a daily guest pass to use the REC according to the following requirements:
- Provide verification of alumni status (email confirmation from Alumni Association - see above)
- Pay daily guest fee of $6 and sign waiver
Affiliates
Eligibility
All UWL affiliated employees (Chartwells, Mayo Clinic, etc.) are eligible to purchase a recreation membership.
Verification of Eligibility
- Must provide current status of employment at the time of purchase
- Must maintain employment with the affiliated organization through the length of membership

**Mitchell Hall pool passes need to be purchased online. You will need to setup a profile, then choose membership, then choose the correct option to purchase. Please make sure to complete the whole process, such as click "Complete Sale" after credit card payment is entered.
Waiver Forms
Waivers are required to be signed by all guests. In addition, minors must have their waiver signed by a legal parent/guardian.
The EZONE and Climbing Wall will require different waivers than the one listed above.
Youth Policy
Non-UWL students under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. One adult may supervise up to 3 youth. Guests under 14 years of age are not permitted in fitness classes, the Fitness Center or allowed to use fitness equipment throughout the facility.
The Climbing Wall and EZONE have special youth policies. All users under age 18 must have legal parent/guardian sign a waiver prior to access.
Guest & Sponsor Policies
Current students, REC members, UWL faculty/staff and Alumni are able to sponsor up to three guests/visit. As a sponsor, you accept responsibility for the actions of your guest(s) and must accompany your guest(s) throughout the visit. All sponsors and guests are expected to follow all policies and procedures.

Alumni
As an alum, we welcome you back to the REC! However, since you are no longer paying segregated fees, you must pay the REC daily guest fee of $8. Alumni must provide verification of alumni status by completing this form. You will receive an email confirmation with your status that must be presented to the REC Info Counter staff. Requests for verification will be processed Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm by the Alumni Association. Alumni are allowed to sponsor up to three guests. See above information regarding minimum age and sponsorship requirements.
Student Fee Funded
The Rec Sports Department is funded 100% by student fees and program revenue. Therefore, use of the Recreational Eagle Center (REC) is geared toward students who are currently enrolled and paying student fees. Current faculty, staff and emeriti are allowed to purchase a membership to the REC for the same fee students are paying. Guests are welcome and allowed to use the entire facility based on the fees and requirements listed above.
