HAPPY BIRTHDAY REC SPORTS!
UWL Recreational Sports is proud to be celebrating 100 years of playing! To learn more, check out our recent articles published in the winter issue of the Lantern and in the UWL Campus Connection.
We invite you to join us in person on April 30, 2022 to come together with your former teammates, coworkers, classmates, and lifelong friends to celebrate the many memories that made your campus recreation experience so special. This is also an opportunity to see the exciting changes and growth on campus.
Schedule for April 30 (see below for additional information):
- 10am-1pm: Campus tours
- 10am-3pm: REC open house; includes time to play!
- 4pm-6pm: 100 Years of Playing reception; Cleary Alumni Center
ONLINE MEMORIES
Join us online in commemorating this historical occasion by sharing your favorite memories, photos, or videos on our kudoboard.
TOURS and OPEN HOUSE (registration required)
We invite you to participate in person on April 30. Please submit the open house registration form found by selecting the Celebration icon; form is open through April 30.
Tours - tours will last approximately 60 minutes and will include the Recreational Eagle Center (REC), Centennial Hall, Prairie Springs Science Center, Wittich Hall, and the Student Union. All tours start and end at the REC and will depart every 30 minutes between 10am and 1pm.
Open house - do not forget to bring your playing clothes! Lace up your shoes and have fun participating with your family and friends in badminton, basketball, indoor yard games, volleyball, and soccer. Also available is the climbing wall, Fitness Center, and our brand new, state of the art EZONE Esports and Gaming Room. Activities are available in the REC from 10am-3pm. There are no minimum ages except for use of the Fitness Center - must be at least 16.
RECEPTION (pre-registration required)
The active day will culminate with a reception in the Cleary Alumni Center from 4pm-6pm. Tickets must be purchased no later than April 26 and cost $20; includes light hors d'oeuvres and one refreshment.
Our keynote address, titled "Playing it Forward with Purpose" will be presented by Jody Redman, ’91 & ’98, a former Rec Sports graduate assistant and nationally recognized expert on strategic planning and leadership development.
Registration for the reception is required no later than April 26 and can be found by selecting the Celebration icon found at this link.
SPONSORSHIP and DONATIONS
If you are interested in sponsoring a UWL student for the reception, you can do so on our registration page ($20/ticket). Donations are also being accepted for the student development scholarship through the UWL Foundation. Choose "Select the area you wish to support">Other areas>Recreational Sports (under designation).
REGISTRATION
Online registration is now available. To purchase tickets for the reception, select Celebration, then reception; tickets must be purchased no later than April 26. To register for the open house, select Celebration, then Open House; registration is open through April 30.
